From Hospital to Home, a Freedom to Live Story
Don Fessman became paralyzed while vacationing in Florida when a wave pushed him into a sandbar. Without family or options, his friend Chris has helped him throughout all the trials and turmoil that come with being newly injured. With the help of Sian Welch, Don will now be entering into the Freedom to Live Independence Training Program and can now being rebuilding his life.
Freedom to Live Foundation (FTL) provides a “campus living” Independence Training Program for SCI individuals who desire to achieve independence and a better quality of life. Recipients achieve this for themselves by being provided the time, support and collegial-like living environment to learn and practice the life-long, necessary skills that will enable them to manage, direct and take back control of every aspect of their life after leaving rehab, moving home or transferring from a long-term nursing facility. FTL applies all of its energy and effort into finding “what can be” for our recipients rather than merely settle for “what is.”
Your support helps people like Don have a life again. Please visit www.freedomtolive.org to find out how you can help.
